@ Julia Stridh

Meet Julia Stridh – a stylist, designer, and lover of all things creative. With a long career in fashion, Julia’s work is a seamless blend of color, texture, and style. Currently living in what she fondly calls “renovation chaos,” Julia’s home is as vibrant as her personality, where every room tells its own story.

Known for her bold approach to design and love for both vintage treasures and modern pieces, Julia’s style is anything but ordinary. Her home is a beautiful paradox: a harmonious blend of lived-in warmth and playful creativity, inspired by the soulful aesthetics of Italy and France. Whether it’s picking paint colors by pure instinct, mixing unique vintage finds, or adding a touch of House of Bolon’s distinct flooring, Julia’s home reflects her philosophy that design should be fearless, functional, and fun.

Let’s start simple. Can you tell us a bit about who you are and where you live?
(Laughs) Sure! My name is Julia Stridh, and I’m a professional multi-tasker! I’ve spent years in the fashion industry as a stylist and still do styling work, but I’ve also taken on design projects that let me dive deep into color, shape, and all things fashion. Oh, and I live in the middle of a renovation chaos. (Laughs)

Sounds like a mix of creativity and…dust! What drew you to this particular house?
It was the chaos itself, really. This place was a beautiful mess, in desperate need of someone who saw its potential and wanted to care for a hundred-year-old home. I fell in love with the idea of preserving and restoring something that could live on for generations.

So, what’s the vibe like in your home?
I’d say it’s cozy but also eclectic, a bit inspired by Italy and France. I want every room to feel inviting, like you could just sit down in the kitchen and stay there for hours. It’s very much a blend of harmony, personality, and that “lived-in” feeling.

Do you have a specific color philosophy, or are you more spontaneous?
(Laughs) Philosophy? No way. It’s more like controlled chaos! I look at the light, the space, and then just go with my gut. I don’t do test patches; I just choose the paint. Each room has its own personality because every room should feel unique—different moods, different colors, all coming together.

That sounds bold! Speaking of unique, you’ve mixed in a bit of House of Bolon in your home. What do you love about it?
Oh, House of Bolon has such a creative edge! The floor makes everything feel even more vibrant and fun to decorate. Plus, it’s so durable. You’re not just putting in any floor; you’re putting in something that adds character and will last.

You’re amazing at blending vintage finds with new pieces. Is there one dream item you’re on the lookout for?
Honestly, I don’t have a “dream piece.” I’m always hunting for things that speak to me. When I see something and it just feels right, that’s the piece I want! Mixing old and new gives the home a soul—it’s important to me that not everything feels fresh out of a catalog.

Last deep question: if your house caught fire (let’s hope not!), what’s the first thing you’d grab?
Hmm… probably my kids’ old toys. They’re irreplaceable little treasures. Everything else? We’d figure it out.

Final question. When you get the rare chance to be home alone, what’s your guilty pleasure?
Oh, it almost never happens! But if I get that rare moment, I binge on a terrible series with a big bowl of ice cream. Though honestly, part of me just wants to walk into the woods and enjoy some total silence.
