Annica Eklund: Curating Creativity Through Interior Style

Annica Eklund’s home is a reflection of her dynamic personality—eclectic, bold, and brimming with creativity. As the creative director and owner of House of Bolon, Annica has developed a keen eye for design that goes beyond flooring, extending into every corner of her personal space. Her home, like her work, tells a story of balance and expression, where modern elegance meets personal flair.

Describe your home and how your interior style evolved over time.
“My interior style is all about creating a space that feels both curated and comfortable,” says Annica. “It’s a mix of modern elegance and personal expression. I love working with House of Bolon because their flooring is not only innovative and sustainable but also provides the perfect foundation for my eclectic style. I blend vintage pieces with contemporary designs, and I always make room for bold, unexpected details. To me, it’s about balance—mixing different eras, colors, and textures in a way that’s authentic to me.”

Annica’s home is an ever-evolving canvas. From vintage furniture to carefully chosen contemporary elements, it’s a space that allows her to experiment, change, and redefine the atmosphere based on her mood. Whether it’s the addition of a striking new artwork, a textured rug, or a sculptural furniture piece, her home remains a true reflection of her creative mind.

What inspires you when creating these spaces?
“When it comes to interiors, everything inspires me—an ordinary day, a trip abroad, or simply walking around the city,” Annica explains. “I’m constantly seeing the beauty in the everyday, and that translates directly into how I approach my home and work. My creativity is a continuous flow, never off, and I always try to channel that energy into my personal space. It’s all about living in a space that inspires you back.”

Her home is not just a place to live but a sanctuary for her creative energy, where every detail is carefully considered, yet spontaneous enough to leave room for the unexpected.

Your home seems to reflect a strong sense of personal style. How do you ensure it feels like ‘you’?
Annica’s ability to blend high-end design with personal memories and touches is part of what makes her style so unique. “It’s important to me that my home feels like it tells my story,” she shares. “I incorporate pieces with sentimental value, whether it's a vintage find or something that evokes a particular memory. There’s always room for change in my space—I’ll move things around, swap out accessories, or even try a new color scheme. The flexibility and creativity that come with that process make it an ongoing project, and that’s what I love about it.”

Her commitment to mixing and matching allows her to create a space that feels both timeless and alive with fresh energy. From the quirky details to the more refined choices, it’s clear that every piece is chosen with purpose, but also with the freedom to evolve.

How does House of Bolon play a role in your home’s aesthetic?
“As a founder of Bolon & House of Bolon, I’m deeply connected to the brand and the product,” Annica says. “Their flooring is a cornerstone in my home—it brings texture, depth, and character. I’ve always loved how versatile Bolon’s designs are. The textures and patterns provide a unique foundation for a space, and I can pair them with vintage furniture or contemporary art, allowing the room to tell its own story. It’s a reflection of my personality—innovative, yet personal and full of life.”

What do you think makes your home stand out from others?
Annica smiles when asked this question, “I think it’s the way I combine different influences. I’m not afraid to mix old and new, traditional and avant-garde. There’s always a bit of mischief in how I approach design, and I think that gives my home a feeling of warmth and unpredictability. It’s a place where you can’t predict what’s next, but you feel comfortable in it nonetheless.”

Her eclectic approach to design extends to her work at Villa La Madonna, where she carefully curates spaces that feel both welcoming and inspiring. For Annica, home is not just about creating an aesthetic but about nurturing an environment that allows her to be her most creative self.
